In 1975 Wilnelia became Miss World, she is the first and to date the only winner from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Following her success at the Miss World competition Wilnelia was signed by Ford Models in New York.

She met and fell in love with Bruce Forsyth in 1980 at the Miss World competition gala. She became Lady Forsyth when her husband Bruce was knighted in June this year.

Wilnelia created a foundation to help Puerto Rico’s under-privileged children. She organises charity balls to raise money for the cause.
