back to Awards & NomineesThe Inspiration Awards - Melissa Ball

Melissa Ball In Aug 2008 Melissa was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer at just 26 years old. Melissa took her diagnosis not only with grace, but also with a deep fury to defeat it. Chemotherapy was a place where she made friends and inspired others that they too could make it through the treatment. When her long red hair began to fall out with each chemotherapy treatment, she asked her Mother to shave her head. After chemo she had a bilateral mastectomy and radiation treatment which Melissa conquered with courage.

Melissa loves life and since her diagnosis has committed herself to raising money to find a breast cancer cure. Last summer, Melissa joined a new charitable campaign: Too Many Women, which supports Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Her goal was to find a team of friends to raise £5,000, which she has surpassed with a figure closer to £10,000. Melissa truly loves the charity and made it exciting and fun.

Melissa’s a role model of courage for all women who face a difficult obstacle in life, not just breast cancer.
