Beverly De Gale Beverley De-Gale OBE co-founded the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust in 1996 following her 6 year old son Daniel’s diagnosis with Leukaemia.

Daniel’s only hope of survival was to receive a bone marrow transplant. Bone marrow has racially specific characteristics therefore Daniel’s donor could only be found from the black or mixed race population of which 550 were registered.

Beverley has so far registered 35,000 people as donors. Aged 12 Daniel received a transplant enabling him to live a fruitful life. Sadly Daniel passed away aged 21 due to health complications.
